Located downtown Vienna, Palais Coburg translates the history of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha dynasty. Built in the 1840s, the palace was originally the residence of Prince Ferdinand and his family, before being occupied by Russian soldiers during WWII. The décor is majestic and luxurious, the rooms have gildings, sculptures and impressive chandeliers as well as antique furniture. The suites are spacious and carry the name of the dynasty members. If you are looking for a warm feeling, book the Maria Antonie suite, while the Maria Da Gloria suite is more classic and tone down. Instead, the Lofts and Residenz have a more contemporary design.
Discover the history of the Austrian capital through the imposing secondary residences of the Habsburg royal family, the Hofburg Palace (today the President’s residence) and the Schönbrunn castle with its flowery garden. Vienna also has a huge artistic heritage: the Belvedere Palace hosts some original works of painter Gustave Klimt, while MUMOK is dedicated to the contemporary art. Stop for lunch at Naschmarkt, a market full of small charming restaurants. At night, enjoy some music at the National Opera House before taking a stroll through the evening lights.
